More than a desire, a conviction, a commitment: to offer you 80% of pieces entirely imagined, designed, and manufactured in France, with quality materials, in respect of humans and the environment. SAAJ is based on a love for French know-how, a desire to highlight the talent and work of our workshops and French artisans. 80% of our models are conceived, designed, and manufactured in Paris and the Paris region. Within our offices, at the Creation Studio, Maëlys and her team envision the future models. La Nouvelle Fabrique, the 100% SAAJ workshop located 20 km from Paris! When SAAJ was born 6 years ago, producing in France, in limited quantities, and through short circuits was both a resolute choice and a necessity for a small brand like ours. Over time, this model has become both our trademark, a daily challenge, and our greatest pride. Since then, we have continuously worked to improve it so that you can find your favorite pieces while respecting our values and avoiding waste. For us, choosing French know-how means supporting local workshops. It also means choosing to respect the working conditions of each intermediary in our production chain, compensated at their fair value. To go even further in our approach, for a year now, we have created from scratch The New Factory, our own production workshop 20km from Paris. The last piece of the puzzle, which allows us to fully meet our commitments while mastering each step of the creation of your garments and constantly improving our quality. The challenge is to reinvent our economic model based on short circuits while limiting price increases. The proximity to our design office allows for smoother communication between seamstresses and pattern makers, thus saving time in the production of our pieces. A real awareness supported by the region Île-de-France, based on the commitment to “consume local”. This also means offering you less substantial stocks, as our production capacity is necessarily smaller than that of large factories, and we measure our production as accurately as possible to avoid overproduction. With around thirty tailors, SAAJ Paris is proud to be able to maintain a job pool in the Paris region. For the production of our collections, some models remain inaccessible in France. This is the case for the manufacturing of our knitwear, jeans, or shoes, for example. Thus, for these models, we turned to Portugal, renowned for its mastery of leather goods and textiles. As with all our clothing, we validate each of the prototypes with the Creation Studio before launching production: meticulous inspection of models, measurements, fittings… Since our Spring 2021 collection, we have made the choice to prioritize working with French suppliers to offer you a maximum of printed and/or woven fabrics made in France, thus ensuring their quality and reducing the carbon footprint of our products. This does not yet constitute the entirety of our materials, but we are working towards making it the largest portion! We are also working to ensure that our suppliers systematically specify the origin of the raw materials used (cotton, viscose…) to go even further in their traceability. A more complicated task than we thought given that most source from international "wholesalers". But this is part of Our Promise for the coming months to be perfectly transparent about the origin of each of our materials. We select them based on several criteria: quality, durability, environmental impact, and cost, in order to continue offering you pieces at a fair price. We specify that all these materials (just like the entirety of our productions) systematically arrive by truck or by boat (if they come from a country outside the European Union), never by plane. Finally, for the sake of consistency and ethics, we work with our suppliers in the long term to establish a genuine partnership logic. Here are the icons you can see on our product sheets:

Recycled materials.
Synthetic materials are among the most widely used in the textile industry, but they are also responsible for significant pollution.
Whenever we need to use synthetic materials, we will always choose recycled polyester from now on.This is produced by reusing off-cuts from textile production, used clothing, or plastic bottles.
By choosing this alternative, we have limited environmental impact.
